Naples Hop On Sightseeing Buses at Piazza Municipio Terminus

Naples like most other towns and cities worldwide that attract significant numbers of visitors has an open top city sightseeing bus operating on a hop on, hop off basis. Buy a ticket that lasts 24 hours and you can hop on and hop off the buses at your leisure within that period.

Routes and Coverage Within Naples

The first thing to underline perhaps is that the sightseeing bus only covers the centre of Naples, it doesn't go out to Pompeii or Mount Vesuvius.

There are 3 routes and you can use your ticket on all three. There is an interchange for all three routes at Piazza Municipio, a very short walk from the ferry/cruise terminal.

From this central terminus the buses radiate out, one going westward along the coast, the other climbing up to San Martino to the north-west of the city centre before looping back down via the edge of the historic centre and the last essentially doing a circuit around the historic centre.

There are 11 stops on the Art route (around the historic city centre centre of Naples), 12 stops on the Naples Bay route (along the coast) and 9 stops on the San Marino route up onto the hill above the historic centre.

All 3 routes are connected and take Piazza Municipo and take approximately 75 minutes to complete a full circuit. Note the San Marino route only runs at weekends November to March.

First buses start around 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., the last between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.

As you might expect, frequencies are seasonable. The broad winter season is November to March, the summer season April to October.

The art route and Naples Bay route run broadly every hour, the San Marino route every 2 hours.

There is a recorded commentary available on board through headsets in English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Russian.

Major Sights Visited

All of the major sights in the City of Naples are visited including the major sights of the Cathedral, National Archaeological Museum, Spaccanapoli area, The Duemo, Ovo and New Castles and the Museum and Monastery of San Martino.

A full list can be found by clicking through on the banner link below.

Tickets are valid for 24 hours from the time of first use. You can join the tour at any point and your ticket will be stamped with the start time.

The tickets do not include admission to any of the attractions.

There are concessions for children under 16 but not seniors.
