The Rome Airport hotel shuttle is an economical door to door alternative to a taxi between Rome Airport and your central Rome hotel.
The service is a shared shuttle van that runs frequently between Fiumicino Airport and the City of Rome.
The shuttle service operates between Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport (Fiumicino International Airport) and all hotels and registered apartments within central Rome.
For shared shuttle services, the property name should be that of a tourist authority registered hotel or apartment because shuttles do not drop passengers at their private address, but can drop you at the nearest hotel or apartment complex.
The size of vehicle and transfer time does depend on the number of drop-offs and is entirely dependent on the number of people arriving at a similar time to you and going to the same area of Rome. A shuttle transfer normally operates in an 8 seat bus but other vehicles may be substituted.
Each traveller is allowed a maximum of 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on bag. Oversized or excessive luggage (e.g. surfboards, golf clubs or bikes) will have certain restrictions.
Please send an inquiry prior to travel to ask if excess luggage is acceptable.
Additional fees will be charged on the day of travel for excess luggage. Baby seats are not available.
Your transfer will be confirmed immediately and you will be provided with a travel voucher to present to the driver.
The service operates to any hotel in the centre of Rome.
Rome city hotels can be located down narrow cobblestone streets so it's impossible for the shuttle to drive down these. In this case, the shuttle will get you as close to the front of the hotel as possible.
On the shuttle service there are no concessions for children and seniors.
Fares are per passenger one-way. If more than three passengers make a reservation on the same booking a tiered fare structure is triggered - the more travelling the cheaper the fare per passenger.
For flights between 9pm and 6am there is a slightly higher rate. You need to provide your flight details at the time of reservation.
Like all shared shuttle operations worldwide it may take only 30-60 minutes for the van to drive from the airport to the city, depending on traffic but if there are several drops from customers spread around the city it can easily take as long again to perform the drops if you are one of the last.
Cheap airport transfer
• Every 60-mins • 40 min journey time • Free luggage • No booking fee
The Leonardo Express Airport Train is a dedicated airport train taking 30 minutes to reach the centre of Rome (Termini Station) with a frequency every 30 minutes.
The only reason not to use the service is cost, it is around double the cost of competing bus and local train options. The service is a dedicated airport train and runs non stop, every 30 minutes.
At Termini Station in Rome Leonardo Express trains arrive and depart from platforms 23 or 24, in the main area of the station - close to the left luggage office at the station. At Fiumicino, the station is part of the passenger terminal complex. Although it can be a fair walk out to the station area it is undercover with moving walkways.
One step up from a shared hotel shuttle van is a private car with your driver there to personally meet 'n' greet you as you exit customs.
Personal Meet & Greet. Flights are monitored, no worries about flight delays.
No hidden prices. Payment by credit card with no fees.
Choice of vehicle to suit party size and luggage capacity.
Instant reservation and confirmation. 24-hour help line.
Free baby seats.
An efficient way of seeing Rome within the limited time you have is to fit in a short tour of Rome on your journey from the airport. An ideal way to quickly get orientated with Rome and perhaps revise your priorities for what you want to visit later in more detail and more time.
The transfer/tour option is very flexible from a one hour orientation of Rome's main sights without stops to a comprehensive guided sightseeing programme of your own design.
