Cheap budget hotels around Villa Borghese and Via Veneto have to be put into the context that this district is in parts one of the most exclusive districts of Rome.
It is at the top of the Via Veneto, near the Villa Borghese you find some of the most exclusive and expensive hotels in Rome. Many of the luxury chains have their Rome trophy hotel here.
However, prices do drop dramatically as you move south or east away from the Via Veneto so there is some budget accommodation to be found.
This area is to the east of the ancient centre of Rome. From Barberini, (with Spagna) the nearest Metro station to hotels in the Villa Borghese district, the famous Via Veneto winds its way up from the narrow cramped streets of ancient Rome to the exclusive districts up the hill around Villa Borghese.
What to expect from Villa Borghese and Via Veneto budget hotels
Villa Borghese is the largest park in the centre of Rome. From the top of Via Veneto, you can walk directly to the top of the Spanish Steps and the best of the ancient city, a more direct route than the Via Veneto.

The area to the south and east of the Via Veneto soon becomes residential, but still middle/high class and you will find here many of the more affordable options on this page.
Having the Villa Borghese, (a very large park) nearby is a plus for a few quiet moments away from the city.
On the other side of the Villa Borghese again there are some good value hotels, but now you really are beginning to get into the inner suburbs where you will need a short bus ride to get between your hotel and the best of Rome.
