The
Green Line double deck hop on, hop off bus offers a me too offering,
a single core route mirrored by the other rival operators and a very
similar bus with audio commentary facilities in many languages
Like all the other buses on Sundays road closures may affect the routings
and stops of the bus.
Green Line also operate tours both within Rome and day and short break
tours to Pompeii, Naples, Florence etc.
Promotional bundles like 3 tours for 2 are available.

Like
all the other competing hop on buses, Green Line vehicles are equipped
with an audio system providing recorded commentary throughout the
tour in many languages encluding of course English.
You have the choice of a 24 or 48 hours ticket with which to make
use of the 13 stops.
Tickets are valid for 24 or 48 hours from first use, though there
are discounted tickets for afternoon only and no hop off options.
The Cia Roma Tour
also offers identical afternoon and no hop off tickets.
Children do not get a great deal at Green Line.
The child age band is 3 to 8 years old and the discount is only 20%.
The double decker green bus departs Termini Station every 30 minutes,
if you were to stay on the bus for the entire loop, it would take
approximately 2 hours.
Green Line also offer a promotional fare bundling lunch at the Hard
Rock Cafe with the standard ticket. |
The
Rome Toolkit Hop On Hop Off Bus Reference Route
Apart
from the Archeobus, all the rival operators operate a very similar
core route.
The following route is a template that we use on this site as a reference
to illustrate any differences in routing between the operators.
Although all tours are loops where you can start at any point, nearly
all operators start at Terminus Station. When they say last tour departs
at x, they normally mean last departure from Terminus Station.
From Terminus Station buses will head south passing the Colloseum
and Roman Forum before looping around the Circus Maximos Rome to the
River Tiber, where you can walk over to Trastevere. Back up to the
other end of the Roman Forum from the Colloseum at the Piazza Venezzia.
From here the buses head straight to the Vatican crossing the River
Tiber with a stop along the way near the Piazza Navona and Pantheon.
After the Vatican the buses head over to the north of the city centre
recrossing the Tiber to the Piazza Del Popolo. Most buses will route
through the Villa Borghese, sweeping down the Via Vittorio Venetto
to Piazza Barberini for the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. From
there its back to Termini.
Clearly there are many more worthwhile places to visit than the icons
mentioned above. The typical lap above will take just under 2 hours
and have around 12 stops. |
Green
Line Tour Variation of Our Rome Reference Route
Green
Line pretty much run our template route above. However the route doesn't
go through the Villa Borghese but instead goes through the city centre
stopping much closer to the Trevi Fountain than the operators that
go through Villa Borghese. |
