About Bob

Who Is Bob And What Is This Blog?

Background Of Bob

Bob has lived and worked in an around London all his life. Born well before a lot of you were even thought off, when mobile phones, PC’s and the internet were decades away and commercial large passenger aircraft often had propellers he has always had a passion for travel. One of Bob’s biggest frustrations when traveling has always been the lack of practical information available to first time visitors beyond the commercially inspired marketing of the main tourist traps and big travel groups.

The Rome Toolkit

So in 2002 Bob started the London Toolkit web site as a hobby with the aim of providing visitors to London with impartial and independent information for the independently minded budget visitor.
The popularity of the web site soon meant that the London Toolkit became a full time occupation for Bob. To fund the web site, commercial links with hotels, transport providers. tour companies and such like have been made but the integrity of the initial concept is still there with much of the material being free and not commercial in nature with lots of free detailed practical and logistical advice.
With the success of the London Toolkit, Bob started a sister web site the Rome Toolkit looking at one of Bob’s favourite European cities. Again the accent has been on providing lots of practical information for the independently minded visitor to Rome. Again it has been well received like the London web-site

The Bob Explores Rome Blog

Bob visits Rome and Southern Italy at least twice a year.
The idea of the blog is to supplement the standard Rome Toolkit web site with blog articles reflecting what Bob finds on his regular visits to Rome.
You will find video clips, images and text describing the reality of Rome and what the average visitor will encounter.
The emphasis is on providing practical information supplemented with encounters and thoughts from a visitors perpsective during Bob’s regular visits to Rome.
