Single hotel rooms in Rome are widely available in all grades of hotel, though the 4 star luxury hotels have perhaps less choice - preferring you to use and pay for a double/twin room.

The biggest choice of single hotel rooms in Rome city centre are around Termini Station, no different to 'standard' double rooms. Termini also has probably the lowest room rates in the city centre itself. For the single traveller Termini also has an advantage in that it is busy at all

times. In the streets surrounding the station where the hotels are, its a safe place to be for a solo person among the crwods. There is also a wide range of places to eat, if you don't fancy being alone at a table there is plenty of fast food outlets and supermarket options.

Termini is also the transport hub of central Rome so its easy to get around and there is a very good chance Termini will be your place of entry into Rome, if not by long distance train then the airport buses and trains that use Termini as their city centre terminus.

Also a good area for single rooms is around the Vatican City. There are quite a few cheap, good quality bed and breakfast accommodations here, popular with single pilgrims to the Vatican.
