Hotels
next to Vatican City and St Peter's are there, by far the
majority are relatively small of around 20 to 40 rooms. Some hotels
overlook the walls of the Vatican, its possible to watch the queues
for the Vatican Museum from your bedroom.
At the budget end, perhaps the best buys are the Bed
and Breakfasts around St Peter's. These are often just 3 or 4
individual rooms, family owned and with a personal touch. Larger hotels
around Vatican City are not short on the ground, there is a good choice. |

On
this page we concentrate on the full service four star hotels. About
1km east from the Vatican is the exclusive Prati district, noted for
its shops and restaurants.
There are a number of four star hotels around here offering very competitive
rates, for a 4 star. This district is also a short walk across the
river to the much more boisterous medieval heart of Rome City Centre.
You can be at the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain or Pantheon within
20 minutes walk or so. |
Immediately
around Vatican City are further options with a definite price premium
to those over at Prati. Some here have views over the Vatican.
If you want a more tranquil environment there are mostly chain hotels
several kilometres west of St Peter's with gardens and sometimes an
outdoor pool to refresh yourself after a long days sightseeing.
