Hotels rooms in Trastevere are relatively few and far between. Most of the heart of Trastevere area is a maze of small back streets and alleys. Hotel accommodation in Trastevere is severely limited, the vast majority of visitors will stay elsewhere. The area is very much geared up to the visitor though, in the steets in the heart of the area, virtually every building is a restaurant or bar, every evening the place is full. Weekends you will normally have to queue such is the demand.

Because of the scarcity of accommodation in Trastvere, the area carries a heavy price premium, but there are some simple bed and breakfasts.
Pantheon & Piazza Navona Hotel District Rome The Viale Di Trastvere is a main road that cuts through Trastvere, crossing the Tiber to the city centre. The only other main road parallels the river.
The number 8 tram runs along Viale Di Trastvere to Argentina in the heart of the city centre.

Many visitors prefer to walk across the river through the historic and atmospheric Camp de Fiori to the Piazza Navona / Pantheon area.

Buses follow the bank of the river up to Vatican City.

The Forum and Colosseum is also within walking distance across the Tiberina island.
Hotel Near Pantheon / Piazza Navona If you are on a budget there are some very well received bed and breakfast accommodation by Vatican City. These are small owner occupied premises, several of them get glowing recommendation because of the cosy accommodation and helpful owners. There is a small bus that runs up the hill behind Trastvere from near the Vatican with great views and an easy walk down into Trastvere old town.
