Cheap B&B around Termini is mostly small family establishments. It is common for there to be six or seven B&B's all sharing the same building on different floors. The image opposite is a typical common entrance shared by all the B&B's in the building. Perhaps a scooter in the hall, pot plants to add a bit of colour and a lift up to the various floors. These shared entrances can sometimes be unwelcoming and it comes as a pleasant surprise to enter the Bed and Breakfast itself.
Most of the cheap Bed and Breakfast accommodation is north and south of the station in a maze of streets in the immediate vicinity of the station. Its a great place to stay for the budget traveler with lots of laundries, Internet cafe's and budget restaurants. In the basement of Termini Station itself there is a reasonably sized supermarket and like all main train stations fast food outlets abound.
Termini Station is the main transport hub in Rome City Centre. The two metro lines intersect here and the main central bus station is in front of the terminus. Termini is also the terminus of most long distance trains out of Rome on the Italian rail network. Trains to Fiumicino airport also run from the station and buses to Ciampino. The station is quite a modern affair with lots of shops, travel agencies, fast food, even a supermarket on several levels.

Termini is the public transport hub for Central Rome. From Termini it is possible to go direct by the limited Rome Metro service to the Colloseum, Spanish Steps and Vatican. The dense network of buses will take you everywhere else.
Termini is also the main start point for the multitude of Rome Hop on Hop Off buses
