the front of Termini Station, to the west of the station, things are
more elegant and spread out than the tight streets to the north and
south of the station where the cheapest hotels are found. To the west,
there is a cluster of hotels around Piazza Republicca. Things are
more elegant here with ruins, cathedrals, second hand bookstalls and
such like, more pleasing to the eye and interesting for the visitor
than north or south of Termini Station.
Either way, staying around Termini is a great location as good a hub
to base yourself as any location in Rome.
Most 3 star hotels are small and independent. With the exception of
a few Best Western franchised hotels you will find little trace of

people feel very safe in the area, because of Termini train station,
there are always plenty of people around at all times. Termini train
station itself has a significant shopping centre and the streets around
it are crammed full of bars, shops and restaurants of all types and
budgets.
The Metro will get you to the Vatican, Spanish Steps and Collosseum
very swiftly. Most of the hop on. hop off buses start and finish at
Termini also. |
