4 Star Hotels in Rome are of course available across all hotel districts. Room rates in 4 star hotels change dramatically with seasons, during the winter, deals of €150 are routinely available at the height of the summer season rates can be nearly double.

The true city centre around the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps are a maze of narrow lanes and alleys.
Rooms here are sought after and the hotels that are available carry a heavy price premium.

More reasonable room rates are found off the Via Veneto and Via Nazionale north of The Forum between Piazza Venezia and Termini Station.

The most economic hotels tend to be either around Termini Station or further out. Termini is like many city centre main railway stations, hustle and bustle goes on until late and its not the most scenic part of the city. Hotels in the inner suburbs can offer more space and quiet, a welcome relief from the city centre. However transfers can be tedious, even if the hotel has its own shuttle bus.
