Massimo
Zoli, the owner fast becoming a legend. A retired administrator
from the Rome transport system his knowledge of the city and surrounds
is excellent. Whether its the history of a Bernini Fountain,
the best way to get to the Trastavere, a free concert in Piazza St.
Ignacio or an interest in Italian Cinema of the fifties and sixties,
Massimo is a walking encyclopaedia.
Like the idea of sitting at a large breakfast table with other guests
and sharing experiences, Massimo is always on hand to top up your
coffee and offer suggestions for where to visit in Rome.
A Roma is very close to the metro station, bus stop and an easy stroll
to the Vatican with a fabulous local produce market just around the
corner. If you want great value, great location then all you need
to do is become a paid-up member of the Massimo Zoli fan club.

Buys - Cheap Budget Hotel
Hotel Stella €60-€115 Double Room
Hotels
around Termini Station are by far the most popular in central Rome
and Hotel Stella is one of the most popular in this district.
Around 500m from the station in an expensive city, room rates here
are reasonable in all seasons.
The hotel is clean and rooms are comparatively spacious. The breakfast
room is small but the service normally excellent. The continental
breakfast is adequate with a reasonable choice. Welcoming staff are
very helpful and welcoming. Biggest downside is the noise from a bar
below which can last until late for some rooms.

Buys - Mid Range Hotel
Tulip Inn Roma Globus €100-€225 Room
Great
midrange hotel in the University district. Room rates vary according
to season but are always competitive. Clean and quiet with no nasty
surprises.
The breakfast buffet on the rooftop terrace is one of the best in
Rome. Small bar with dedicated bar man, efficient reception staff
and a comfortable lounge complete the picture. Very flexible with
left luggage. |
 |
The
hotel is a little away from the main sights though. The 310 bus passes
the door every 10 minutes to Termini until late, about 5-10 minutes
ride. The metro underground railway is a 10 minute walk. Trams run
about 50m away direct to Colosseum, Trastevere and Vatican City.
