Rome can be a very expensive city for accommodation, especially during the summer months.
For those with one eye on the wallet, the Mercure Corso Trieste and Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna may be the answer with affordable room rates and comfortable modern hotels.
The 'penalty' is that both are a couple of miles from the very centre in relatively upmarket suburban residential areas. However, Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna has Bologna Metro just around the corner from the hotel, just three stops from Termini. Going the other way, Tiburtina Metro is the next stop where you can get local trains direct to Fiumicino Airport, much cheaper than the Leonardo Airport Express from Termini Station.
