As is the case with most global chain hotels in Rome they tend to be away from the city centre, Holiday Inn is no exception. If you do select such a location, do factor in the time and/or expense of getting to the main sights.

The exception in the case of Intercontinental properties is the InterContinental De La Ville Roma, right on the edge of the ancient centre of Rome adjacent to the Spanish Steps. If money is no object this is indeed a splendid option for your visit to Rome.
For those with one eye on the wallet, the Express Holiday Inn San Giovanni is well worth a look. This is situated a little to the south of the city centre but unlike the other Holiday Inn's has excellent public transport that will have you in the centre in 15 minutes or less, including a Metro station. What is more, it has a direct train link with Rome's main airport, Fiumicino.

Of the rest of the Holiday Inn's, all but the Crowne Plaza St Peter's are close by Rome's orbital motorway. If you have a car these are worth considering, offering good quality accommodation at a much lower cost than the city centre, driving to a local station/metro for the commute to the sights. Another advantage of being outside is the prospect of resort style facilities with pools, a great contrast to the hurly burly of the city.
The Holiday Inn's and Crowne Plaza have shuttle services that go to the city centre. The Crowne Plaza St Peter's is closer to the centre than the Holiday Inn choices, a couple of miles west of the Vatican in a residential area with limited public transport.

Located next to Tuscolana Railway Station, Express by Holiday Inn Rome has great links to Fiumicino Airport using the direct and frequent local train service to Fiumicino.

Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter's is set on the historic Via Aurelia Antica. Free shuttle bus (scheduled times) and public buses provide connection to the historic centre.
The Crowne Plaza is surrounded by a park and has a large spa for adults only, with sauna, jacuzzi, and indoor heated pool.
