For those with one eye on their wallet but who still want a decent hotel, the Best western Globus is a good hotel to benchmark against. Its a very solid hotel indeed about a mile east of Termini Station next to the University.
A 24x7 bus passes the Globus every 10 minutes during the day travelling the short distance to Termini Station, or you can walk 5/10 minute walk to the nearest Metro. For this small inconvenience you often get some very good room rates.
